The low-down: Achieving national prominence in 2003 as a finalist on the first series of Australian Idol, Rob has since established himself as one of Australia's favourite leading men.
Career highlights: Playing Fiyero in Wicked: The Musical; principle roles in productions including Grease, The Arena Spectacular and Hair; hosting TV show Young Talent Time; performances on TV shows including Carols By Candlelight, Carols In The Domain, The Panel, The Circle, The Morning Show and Spicks and Specks.
Current gig: Starring as Warner in Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Tell us about your first car: It was a red Holden Nova, which was actually a rebadged Toyota Corolla, that I bought with all the money I'd saved from all the jobs I'd had. I thought I was getting a 1.6-litre, but after I'd signed all the papers I found out it was actually a 1.4. Which was fine. It saved me on petrol I suppose, but it didn't really have as much up and go as I would have liked.
Were you much of a car nut growing up? As a kid I would know the name of every car driving down the street. I could even tell at nighttime, just from looking at the headlights. But I never got into the mechanical side. I can change a tyre and the oil, but as far as everything else, no idea at all.
You took your driver education very seriously though, right? Dad got me a defensive driving course out at Calder Park and I got to take his VR Berlina and give it a bit, which was awesome. It was a really good way of learning what a car can do, how to stop, how to get out of trouble. It was one of the best things I ever did.
What are you driving now? A Subaru XV that I got at the end of last year. I'd been looking at them for a while and really liked the idea of a mini SUV. I love it. It just drives so nicely and actually turns itself off at the lights. It's also the first automatic I've ever had.
What's your ideal car? If money were no object, I'd go an Aston Martin DB9. A friend of mine was selling Aston Martins for a little while and he brought one around and I got to drive it around the block. That thing was just heaven, just so beautiful. It's on my wish list for sure.
What's your pet road peeve? I don't like it when people don't let you in. You've indicated for several seconds, they know you want to come in. What's one car spot extra? Instead they speed up and now I'm in the gravel, or stuck behind a parked car. That really annoys me. So does speeding. There are limits in place for a reason.
If you could go on a long road trip with absolutely anyone, who would it be? Someone like Stephen Fry would be awesome. I think he'd have some really great stories, and he probably would have looked up the history of where we were driving before we'd even got there.

So we just so happened to run into Robert "Millsy" Mills this week while he was on a break from performing in Legally Blonde the musical (okay, that’s a lie – our people called his people… Alright, that’s a lie too, we don’t have any people). But the point is; we sat down and asked him the hard hitting questions. Like, you know, what his favourite party trick is… And just in time for the silly season!
If you could only sing one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? This question is impossible to answer... I have a very short attention span and get bored easily. So I would go crazy only being able to sing one song. I go crazy just listening to one style of music for more than 30mins...
Right… lucky this interview is only 5 minutes then! So if you could play any character (stage, screen or otherwise) who would it be and why? I would love to play the role of Iron Man. Such a cool character and you would get to use all those cool gadgets. And he can fly! Are you kidding me?! Awesome.
Good choice. Got any jokes you can tell us? Something you always pull out at parties? If not... what's your party trick? What does cheese say when it looks in the mirror? Haloumi! Heard it the other day. Makes me laugh it's so bad.
Mmm, haloumi… So what one thing do you think women should know about men? That we are problem solvers... If you have a problem or an issue and all you want is sympathy or empathy, you won't get it. We just want to solve it.
Can you tell readers what they'll see if they pop along to Legally Blonde? The most entertaining show that's come to Australia in a long time. There is a laugh a minute and definitely something for everyone. The songs are catchy and the story warm and utter hilarious.
What's next for you when LB wraps up? I would love to see where my music will take me. I have been writing a bit this year. And hopefully some more acting work in TV and Film.
